Safeguarding Training and Consultancy
Barbara Lewin started Umbrella Safeguarding to provide training and consultancy in all aspects of safeguarding for businesses working with international students.
There are a variety of training sessions available to clients including:
Basic Safeguarding for all staff
Advanced Safeguarding for Designated Staff (formerly Level 2)
Specialist Training for DSL (formerly Level 3)
Recruiting Safely in ELT for staff and homestays
Safeguarding for Social Programmes
Safeguarding and Online Delivery.
Pre-Easter and Pre-Summer Induction Sessions
Introduction to Risk Assessment - a one hour session to help staff understand Risk Assessments
Introduction to Safeguarding - a one hour session for staff who have completed non-interactive Basic training, with the aim to help staff understand how to put their learning into practice.
All the above training sessions can be delivered either face-to-face or online depending on the client's preferred delivery method.
Barbara is a Mental Health First Aider for both Adult and Youth. She is a registered and qualified instructor for NUCO Training to deliver the nationally regulated Level 1 and Level 2 Awards in First Aid for Mental Health through First Aid Awards Ltd who are regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation. She can deliver a half day mental health awareness course (RQF Level 1) or a one day First Aid for Mental Health course (RQF Level 2). These sessions are only delivered face-to-face
Barbara has many years’ experience of working within the ELT sector and has a broad understanding of the complexities of the industry. She delivers training for English UK, and for individual schools and larger groups.
In 2016, Barbara founded and is the Chair of the Sussex Safeguarding Forum. The Forum provides a network for Sussex based ELT schools to share advice and guidance and liaise with the relevant local authorities and deliver bespoke training within the region.
Barbara has a background in HR and is an FCIPD.
